Questions

Good to know

We appreciate you asking, but due to the intimate nature of our celebration (and the fact that it's in Japan!), we're only able to accommodate those specifically named on the invitation. We hope you understand.

We love your little ones, but our wedding will be an adults-only celebration. We hope this gives you a great excuse for a night (or week!) off. Thank you for understanding.

Please RSVP by November 1st, 2026. This helps us finalize seating, dining, and travel coordination. If anything changes after you've RSVP'd, just reach out to us directly.

We don't have a traditional registry — we're currently saving for a house! Your presence in Kyoto is truly the greatest gift. That said, if you'd like to contribute toward our home fund, any donation toward that cause is very much appreciated. Details will be shared closer to the date.

Early April in Kyoto is peak cherry blossom season — temperatures typically range from 52–66°F (11–19°C). Days are mild and beautiful, but evenings can still be cool. We'd recommend a light layer or wrap for the outdoor ceremony.

Our ceremony will be unplugged. For this, we ask that all phones and cameras be put away, with no pictures or videos taken during the ceremony. We have an amazing photographer documenting the entire day, so you can fully be in the moment with us! After the ceremony, feel free to take photos and capture memories during the rest of the celebration.

Plan to be in Kyoto by March 30, 2027 at the latest. Our pre-wedding activities run March 30 – April 1, so arriving by the 30th means you won't miss anything leading up to the big day. If you're only coming for the ceremony itself, you must arrive no later than April 1, 2027.

Yes! Traveling to Japan requires a valid passport. Important: Your passport cannot expire within 6 months of our wedding date. It must be valid through at least October 1, 2027. If you need to renew, please start the process as soon as possible — it can take several weeks.

Most international flights land in Tokyo, so book into Haneda (HND) or Narita (NRT) — whichever gives you the best route and price. From Tokyo, hop on the shinkansen (bullet train), which gets you to Kyoto in about 2 hours 15 minutes — a smooth, scenic ride. Give yourself a little buffer so the travel day feels relaxed.

The sooner the better — booking 4–6 months out typically gets you the best fares and seat availability for the spring travel season. We'd suggest locking in your flights once you've RSVP'd by November 1, 2026, so everything's set well in advance. Aim for arrival by March 30, 2027 (see above).

We've put together a few recommended hotels at different price points — check out the Where to Stay section on the home page for our picks across a few price points. More details and exact options will be added as we get closer to the date.

We'll be putting together a curated list of our favorite spots in Kyoto and beyond — restaurants, temples, neighborhoods, day trips, and more. Stay tuned! We want you to make the most of your time in Japan.

We ask all guests to wear formal, all-black attire (white dress shirts for men are fine). For women, floor-length dresses are preferred. For men, suits and tuxedos — no jeans, please. No patterns, prints, or logos. We want everyone looking sharp and cohesive.
